NLRS Commentary:
Roma Agents yarded 8314 head this week as the season continued to deteriorate across the region. The yarding comprised a quality selection of cattle, although signs of declining conditions were evident as dry weather persist. The market could not sustain the levels of the previous sale, losing up to 20 to 25c/kg over most categories.
Yearling steers under 200kg selling from 350c to 570c/kg for the better pens to backgrounders. Yearling steers 200 to 280kg made to 584c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling steers 280 to 330kg lost almost 15c/kg to make 560c lotfeeders and 590c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling steers 330 to 400kg went against the trend to make 578c/kg to Lot Feeders. Yearling steers 400 to 480kg selling from 500c to 550c/kg to lotfeeders. Yearling steers over 480kg made from 468c to 472c/kg to processors.
Yearling heifers under 200kg sold to 484c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling heifers 200 to 280kg made to 494c to backgrounders to average 449c/kg. Yearling heifers 280 to 330kg averaged 90c less to make to 518c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling heifers 330 to 400kg sold from 365c to 492c to lotfeeders and 490c/kg to backgrounders. Yearling heifers 400 to 480kg selling from 420c to 460c to processors and 458c/kg to lotfeeders. Yearling heifers over 480kg made from 380c to 438c/kg to processors.
Grown steers 400 to 500kg sold from 480c to 552c/kg to lotfeeders. Grown steers 500 to 600kg also topped 522c/kg to processors. Bullocks over 600kg selling to 408c/kg to processors. Grown heifers over 540kg sold to 462c/kg to lotfeeders.
A top yarding of cows presented but could not sustain the levels of last sale. The 3 score cows over 520kg sold from 330 to 396c/kg to processors. The 2 score cows 400 to 520kg sold from 210c to 360c/kg to processors. Bulls over 600kg selling to 462c/kg to processors.
