Yarding 6276 Change -124

Despite ongoing dry conditions cattle numbers at Dalby declined by 124 head compared to the previous week bringing the yarding to 6276 head. Cow numbers fell to 913 head while the supply of bulls totalled 328 head. A good panel of export buyers were present and active along with the regular feed and trade operators. Restockers buyers had multiple interstate orders for young light weight cattle.

There was a wide variation in quality and buyers were very selective and this was reflected in the prices. Most of the light weight yearling steers and heifers struggle to maintain the improved prices of the previous week however good quality lines experienced strong support. Yearling steers and heifers to feed generally sold close to the previous weeks level with only quality related price changes. Heavy grown steers and bullocks sold to a very strong market. Plain condition cows to restockers received a lift in price and processor lines averaged close to firm however top money improved on the previous week.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to a top of 610c with a large number averaging from 543c to 549c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 584c with most sales from 524c to 565c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to a top of 596c with the largest numbers at 534c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers were well supplied and made to an isolated 528c with a large selection averaging from 433c to 490c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged from 428c to 492c with sales to 532c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 490c and made to 536c/kg.

Bullocks made to 493c and averaged 488c and heavy grown heifers made to 476 c/kg. Very plain condition cows to restockers made to 356c and averaged 337c some better condition lines averaged 353c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows to processors averaged 373c and the best of the cows made to 428c to average 398c/kg some returning $3,350/head. Heavy weight bulls made to 498c/kg isolated sales to $5,280/head.
