Owen and Brigid Price, of Price Cattle Co have offered a $25,000 reward for the return of cattle stolen from ‘Greenlake’ north of Rockhampton during May.

A $25,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the location and recovery of 142 crossbred cattle stolen from a property north of Rockhampton in May.

The mob of 97 crossbred cows, in calf to Wagyu bulls, and 45 Wagyu-cross mixed weaners, were stolen from the Price Cattle Co’s 7600ha breeding property, Greenlake, near Rossmoya, 45km north of Rockhampton.

The cattle were branded with a GL under half-circle symbol, and carried a yellow management tag marked ‘Greenlake’, along with NLIS devices.

Owners Owen and Brigid Price said it was important to highlight the fact this was not a victimless crime.

“Family farmers can’t simply absorb impact of $200,000 being taken from their livelihood,” Mr Price said.

“This is of such importance to our business and the industry that we have decided to offer $25,000 to the person who provides information as to their exact whereabouts, and which leads to the recovery of the livestock.

“We’d like to thank everyone who has so far provided information to the Queensland Police Service’s Stock Squad in relation to this matter.

“While we would love to see those responsible brought to justice for their crime, it’s also vitally important to our business that we have these cattle returned as soon as possible. These cows have been dropping calves for a couple of months now.”

The cattle were last seen by Owen and station manager, Madeline Price, when the stock were yarded for weaning on April 3 and a head count was taken. A re-count at the second round of weaning on May 28 revealed the theft.

The stock are believed to have been transported off Greenlake via Charcoal Road.

The cattle were removed from a mob of 1000 cows over a six-week period, Mr Price said.

“We urge anyone who has even the smallest piece of information to do their bit by contacting the Stock Squad as soon as possible.”
