INDEPENDENT stock and property agents from across Australia who gathered for the recent RMA Network conference in Brisbane raised more than $46,000 during the event’s gala dinner.

A total of 15 charity auction items went under the auctioneers’ hammer, raising $46,196 for the Cure for Brain Cancer cause.

Handling the auctioneering duties were young-guns Charlotte Cain from HF Richardson, Ballarat Vic and James Gibson, Milling Stuart, Dunedoo NSW.

The highest priced lot totalling $10,100 was paid by Jim Hindmarsh, Scott Hamilton and Milling Stuart for signed copies of conference guest speaker Harry Moffitt’s books, “Eleven Bats” and “The Fourth Pillar.” Mr Moffit, who provided an inspirational address during the conference program, retired from the defence force after 30 years, most of which he spent with Australia’s elite Special Air Services (SAS) regiment as a Team Commander and Team Specialist.

Other high-priced items included a Long Lunch donated by Kalleske family winery in the Barossa, bought for $5600 by Jarrod Sutton and Aaron Ralph, Alex Scott and Staff, Sale Vic; a traditional hat item bought for $5400 by Heath Templeton, Southern Grampians Livestock and Property, Hamilton Vic; and a bush poem by Murray Hartin bought for $4600 by Bernie Grant, LMB Livestock and Property, Hamilton Vic.

Two copies of Beef Central’s ever-popular “Cattle Baron” board game made $1200 each – both being knocked down to Greg Darmody and Jacob Rayner, Darmody Rayner Livestock and Property, Bungendore NSW.

Vouchers for two copies of the popular Agrinous agency and saleyards management software made $3500 each, bought by Justin and Tania Costello, Costello Rural and Greg Price, Alex Scott and Staff, Korumburra Vic; while an AuctionsPlus listings voucher made $1400 when bought by Craig Pertzel from Capital Livestock; and a Kassulke elite wine pack made $1700 went to Tom Pearce, TDC Penola SA.

Other successful charity auction bidders were Stuart Kyle, Westech Ag Kyle Livestock, Kaniva Vic;  Isaac Hill, Wagga Regional Livestock, Wagga; Chicago & Sam Burgess, Penola SA; and Justin Hartin,  Hartin Schute Bell, Narromine, NSW.
