Central Qld cattle producers get first chance to engage in cattle transaction levy review

Beef Central 03/07/2026

CENTRAL Queensland cattle producers will be the first in Australia to have the opportunity to take part in upcoming face-to-face consultation meetings as part of the Cattle Transaction Levy Review.

The Cattle Transaction Levy Review Committee will undertake the first round of meetings in Central Queensland from 13-15 July to hear directly from grassfed cattle producers about the current levy arrangements, how levy investments are performing, and how the levy system can best support the industry into the future.

The first round of consultation meetings are scheduled for:

  • Monday 13 July — Kimberley Station, Moranbah — 5pm
  • Tuesday 14 July — Clarke Creek Community Hall, Clarke Creek — 10am
  • Tuesday 14 July — Theodore Hotel, Theodore— 6pm
  • Wednesday 15 July —Bauhinia Community Hall, Bauhinia — 9am
  • Wednesday 15 July — Buckland Rec Club, Buckland (Buckland is located southwest of Springsure) — 6pm

Levy Review Committee chair Bryce Camm said the Queensland meetings were an important opportunity for producers to contribute practical feedback and local perspectives to the review.

“Queensland cattle producers have deep practical experience and a clear understanding of what is needed to support productivity, profitability and resilience across the northern beef industry,” Mr Camm said.

“We encourage producers to attend a local consultation meeting, ask questions and share their views on how levy funds can best deliver value for grass-fed cattle producers and the broader cattle industry.”

The consultation process will help inform recommendations to be developed by the Review Committee for levy payers to consider later this year.

The Levy Review Committee review will host face-to-face consultation sessions across Australia in July and August. Dates for more upcoming sessions, including a number of locations across other Queensland regions, will be published soon.
