Yarding 2130 Change -721
Numbers fell by nearly 700 for a yarding of 2230 cattle in a prime only sale. Quality was very mixed, comprising of one very good large line of bullocks, fewer heavy prime grown heifers and over 1000 cows with more variable weight than recent weeks. All regular processors and feeders were in attendance and operating with selection for weight and quality. Cattle were drawn from Richmond to Einasleigh, south to the Burdekin and local area.
Many categories were softer on last sale, several lines presenting with less weight and quality was not as good as recent weeks. The limited numbers of feeder cattle sold firm, bullocks average 2c easier, grown heifers 12c to 15c softer, while prime cows averaged 7c to 23c lower.
Limited numbers of prime yearling steers to the trade sold to 372c, steers to feed averaged 365c/kg. Prime grown steers above 400kg to feed made from 324c to 376c, trade types ranged from 334c to 380c/kg. Heavy grown steers to processors made form 360c to 368c/kg. Prime grown heifers to the trade were generally plainer than recent weeks and presented with less weight, selling from 280c to 350c.
A large consignment of heavy full mouthed bullocks to export slaughter topped at 378c to average 364c to 371c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows met sporadic demand selling from 240c to 334c, 4 scores sold from 300c to 338c. A reduced number of prime heavyweight cows topped at 350c multiple times to average 322c to 327c/kg. Heavy bulls to processors made to 332c.
