Dalby sale 24 June 2026: Weaner steers 20c higher

Cattle numbers at Dalby reduced by 497 head to 5377. The number of cows penned also declined to 1112 along with 324 bulls. The 4,812 from the local supply area contained one consignment of 698 head. Not all the major export processors were attendance however the feed and restocker buying panel was boosted by interstate operators.

Prices for light weight yearling steers to restockers averaged over 20c/kg better pushed on by southern support. Yearling steers to feed sold to a dearer market and gained 8c to 18c/kg. Feeder heifers outnumbered the feeder steers and the heifer portion improved in price by 10c to 17c/kg. Cows generally sold to a cheaper trend with medium weight plain condition lines 6c/kg less. Heavy weight 3 and 4 score cows lost 12c to 18c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to a top of 626c with most sales from 550c to 582c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 582c to average from 536c to 566c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 594c and averaged 546c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to the occasional 526c and averaged from 445c to 471c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed sold to 534c and averaged from 484c to 487c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed sold to a top of 538c with a large selection averaging 494c/kg.

A few bullocks made to 478c and averaged 460c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 337c and made to 352c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 370c and the best of the cows made to 400c to average 384c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 460c/kg and one bull returning $3,940/head.
