Dalby sale 17 June 2026: heavy cows average 402c/kg, bullocks 7c stronger

The national trend of a decline in supply continued at Dalby with agents penning 2155 head less at 5874. Cow numbers still remained relatively high at 1,400 head along with 369 bulls. A good panel of export buyers were in attendance and operating however not all the regular feed and trade buyers were present. A good lineup of restocker buyers were active in the market.

Light weight yearling steers to restockers averaged 10c/kg better and more in places. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market experienced some improvement in price however heavy weights sold to firm demand. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock received only quality related price changes. Yearling heifers to feed hovered around the previous weeks level. Bullocks to export processors averaged 7c/kg better. Cows experienced a mixed trend with medium weight plain condition lines fully firm however the better conditioned heavy weight classes averaged 7c to 13c/kg less. Heavy weight bulls continued on an upward trend to be over 30ckg better.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to a top of 600c with a large sample averaging from 541c to 545c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 560c and averaged from 528c to 552c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 548c with most around 527c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 504c with most sales from 451c to 463c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 518c to average 477c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed also averaged 477c and made to 528c/kg.

A fair selection of bullocks made to 486c and averaged 465c/kg. Grown heifers to export processors sold to 466c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 344c and made to 365c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 381c and the best of the cows made to 406c to average 402c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 488c to average 446c/kg some returning $5,143/head.
