Gunnedah 26 May 2026: Market mostly dearer

Yarding 2520 Change +320

2520 cattle were scanned in Gunnedah this week. An increase of 320 from a week ago. It was a fair quality yarding of predominantly yearling and weaner cattle as well as cows. Most major buyers were present however with less competition from the south for a mostly dearer market.

Young cattle to the trade were 15c dearer and more in places. The steers made to 518c and the heifers topped at 486c/kg. Yearling steers to feed lacked quality and were cheaper on the average however the Top end of the steers held firm. They made from 469c to 532c/kg and the heifers made between 460c and 496c/kg. Light cattle to the restocker were 20 to 30c dearer. The steers topped at 556c and the heifers reached 484c/kg.

Prime grown steers to the processor made to 490c the heifers were cheaper on quality and made to 467c/kg. Cows to the processor were considerably dearer. 2 score cows made from 250c to 350c/kg. 3 score cows ranged between 344c and 392c/kg. Prime heavy weight cows made from 395c to 415c/kg. The best bulls got to 382c/kg.
