Roma Saleyards market report – Tuesday, 18 March
Yarding: 6712 Change: +3292
Yarding was up this week after several cyclone affected sales, with 6,712 head penned for the Tuesday sale.
The mixed quality yarding was reflected in the prices with top quality lines receiving strong support.
Cattle were drawn from the local supply district and western regions such as Eromanga, Quilpie and Boulia as well as Mungindi in the south.
The broad range of cattle on offer once again solidified Roma Saleyards as the market of choice with all processors, feedlotters and backgrounders present although selective throughout the sale.
With a heifer-dominated yarding, and producers looking to offload with the drying conditions, several quality lines of heifers were snapped up.
Ryrie Grazing from Mount Pleasant, Tambo sold 101 Charolais cross and Red Angus cross heifers to average 306c/kg weighing 335kg and returned $1,056/hd.
