Roma Saleyards market report – Tuesday, 11 March
Yarding: 3420 Change: -2874
Just shy of 3500 head of cattle went to market at Roma Saleyards with several quality lines of feeder steers and heifers sold despite a weather affected yarding.
The market remained firm on par with last week’s penning with the regular processors, feed-lotters and backgrounders present and operating.
The decreased yarding did not detract from the offering with cattle consigned locally and from western regions such as Windorah, Corfield, Jundah, Cloncurry, Eromanga, Tambo and Bollon.
The widespread mix of cattle offered once again highlighted Roma Saleyards as the market of choice with consistent buyer interest and active bidding on the quality lines available.
The Fleming family, Carranya, Windorah offloaded a line of 648 Santa Gertrudis steers to average 359c/kg weighing 429kg and returned $1542/hd.
The line consisted of heavy bullocks and feeder weight steers.
Two pens peaked at 412c/kg with another two pens fetching 400c/kg.

Another pen of 25 Santa Gertrudis steers sold for 412c/kg to weigh 332kg and returned $1367/hd.
An increase of 16 cents over last week’s top price of 396c/kg in the 330-to-400-kilogram weight category.
The producers also offloaded 17 Santa Gertrudis cross heifers to average 282c/kg weighing 489kg to return $1381/hd.
