Police investigate unlawful cattle killing near Townsville

Beef Central, 03/05/2016

Queensland’s Stock and Rural Crime Investigation Squad (SARCIS) is appealing for public assistance as it investigates the unlawful killing of cattle west of Townsville.

SARCIS Detective Sergeant William Gostelow said investigations indicate that sometime between April 22 and 25, two cattle were killed along the Mirambeena Access Road which runs off the Dotswood Mingela Road through the army training area west of Townsville.

“There is a square mile of camping reserve on Keelbottom Creek which is accessed off the Mirambeena Road where a number of people were camping over the long weekend.

“Detectives were hoping to ascertain if anyone saw hunters with rifles, or heard any shots in the area over the weekend.”

Anyone aware of suspicious activity is asked to contact Crime Stoppers and quote police reference number QP1600763410.
