Throughout the week, thunderstorms, some severe, across northern Australia and extending south through Queensland to north-eastern New South Wales, brought localised heavy rainfall including some October daily rainfall records, and large to giant hail in the east.
Weekly rainfall totals of 10 to 50 mm were recorded across much of northern Australia; the south-east of Queensland; isolated parts of coastal New South Wales; and western Tasmania.
Weekly rainfall totals of 50 to 100 mm were recorded in pockets of northern Australia and the south-east of Queensland.
The highest weekly rainfall total (at a Bureau gauge) was 87.2 mm at Folesche Headland in Northern Territory, recorded on a single day, in the 24 hours to 9 am on 31 October, making it also the highest daily rainfall total in the week.
