Weekly rainfall update + rainfall outlook 24 October 2023

A LOW pressure system developed on 20 October and moved towards Tasmania; it deepened and intensified on 21 October bringing damaging winds, showers, thunderstorms and heavy rain to much of Tasmania. 

A cold front moved over southern Western Australia on 22 October, bringing light showers. 

Much of Tasmania had weekly totals of more than 25 mm with an area in the south exceeding 50 mm for the week. 

Weekly totals greater than 10 mm were recorded in parts of southern and eastern Victoria.    

The highest weekly total was 67.4 mm at Southport, Tasmania.

The highest daily total was 53.0 mm at Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania, in the 24 hours to 9 am on 22 October.

Most of Australia received little to no rain during the week.
