Weekly rainfall update + rainfall outlook 13 September 2023

Bureau of Meteorology 13/09/2023

A COLD front moved across south-eastern states during the week and brought showers and thunderstorms in the south.

An upper trough in the east brought showers and thunderstorms early in the week in south-eastern Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales before moving offshore.

The low pressure system moved through Bass Strait resulting in gusty cold winds and showers in in Victoria and Tasmania through the end of the week with some snowfalls above 600 m.

Weekly totals of 25 to 100 mm in western Tasmania and parts of eastern Victoria, 25 to 50 mm in southern Victoria, parts of eastern New South Wales and pockets of north-eastern Queensland, and less than 15 mm for other parts of southern and eastern Australia.

No meaningful rainfall in the tropics.

Highest weekly rainfall total (at a Bureau gauge) was 106.4 mm at Mount Read (Tasmania) and the highest daily total was 42.4 mm at Yarragon south (Victoria).

There is no comment about drought conditions and otherwise lack of rain in various parts of NSW.
    Why not?
    Feeding livestock in the spring?
Livestock being dumped into sale yards?
Saleyard prices too low to support buying feed to feed stock?
Your reporting must be better. It must be more realistic.
    Facts and honesty are paramount.

It’s important to understand, Richard that the purpose of our weekly BOM rainfall update is just that: a summary of where the rain fell, and how much, over the past seven days. Nothing more. Beef Central publishes plenty of other reports that cover the sort of important topics you raise. Here’s just one: Chris Howie: Stay positive and think of creating a margin Editor
