Rainfall likely to be above average across much of eastern Australia and parts of the interior

Rainfall is likely (60 to 80% chance) to be above average for much of eastern Australia, parts of eastern WA and western SA, and regions in far northern and southern NT.

For south-western WA, eastern SA, western NSW and Queensland, and much of Victoria and central NT, rainfall is likely to be within the typical range for the season.

Rainfall is likely (60 to 80% chance) to be below average for western Tasmania.

Compared to last week, the chance of above average rainfall for November to January has increased for much of eastern Australia and SA but decreased for eastern Victoria and western WA.

Increased chance of unusually warm days and nights across most of Australia

Above average maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to very likely (60% to greater than 80% chance) across most of Australia.

Maximum temperatures are likely to be within the typical range for the season for small parts in the NSW central coastal regions and adjacent ranges.

There is an increased chance of unusually high maximum temperatures1 for most of Australia, excluding eastern parts of NSW and Victoria, with up to 3.5 times the normal chance across much of Tasmania.

There is an increased chance of unusually high minimum temperatures(1) across Australia, particularly across the north, far south-eastern NSW and north-eastern Tasmania, where the chances of unusually high minimum temperatures are more than 4 times the normal chance.

1 Unusually high maximum and minimum temperatures are those in the warmest 20% of November to January days and nights, respectively, between 1981 and 2018.
