Roma store 30 August 2016: Weaners to 456c

Only a small number of mixed quality store cattle were penned.

The good quality yearling steers and heifers were snapped up by restocker buyers, while feedlot buyers were keen to secure suitable store steers and heifers.

Despite the small numbers penned, cattle were drawn from across western Queensland.

Early weaned light steers sold to 456c, while light weight yearling steers topped at 432c and averaged 412c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers hit 388c and averaged between 374c and 382c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed earned to 379c and averaged 364c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers sold to 427c and averaged between 364c and 392c/kg.

Medium weight yearling steers to feed topped at 377c and averaged 344c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows reached 261c and averaged 250c, while heavy weight 4 score cows made to 265c and averaged 263c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $1,280/unit.

A total of 2066 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 456c/kg and averaged 425c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 430c/kg and averaged 403c/kg.

Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 408c/kg and averaged 392c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 388c/kg and averaged 360c/kg.

Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 379c/kg and averaging 348c/kg.

Coorada Pastoral Co, Coorada, Taroom, sold Shorthorn-cross steers to 456c/kg for 199kg to return $909/head.

The Santa-cross heifers sold to 427c for 189kg to return $810. R & C Anscombe, The Range, Roma, sold Droughtmaster steers to 426c for 232kg to return $988.

P & M Brennan, For Far, Mitchell, sold Charolais-cross steers to 426c for 227kg to return $969.

Nellybri Pastoral Co, Nellybri, Surat, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 426c for 212kg to return $906.

The Droughtmaster-cross heifers sold to 388c for 226kg to return $880.

B & J Fitzgerald, Abbington, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 420c for 217kg to return $915.

The Angus-cross heifers sold to 388c for 200kg to return $778.

M & L Huntly, Kilburnie, Muckadilla, sold Charolais-cross steers to 412c for 242kg to return $998.

A & E Forster, Belfield Station, Winton, sold Charolais-cross steers to 408c for 311kg to return $1272.

Burunga, Wandoan, sold Santa-cross steers to 408c for 262kg to return $1072.

The Santa-cross heifers sold to 387c for 257kg to return $997.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 372c/kg and averaged 325c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 377c/kg and averaged 345c/kg.

Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 418c/kg and averaged 375c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 427c/kg and averaged 390c/kg.

R & J Underwood, Pine Hills, Wallumbilla, sold Droughtmaster heifers to 418c for 256kg to return $1071.

Pimlico, Glenmorgan, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 372c for 397kg to return $1479.

I & N Batt, Hillview, Muttaburra, sold Santa-cross heifers to 324c for 418kg to return $1357.

Cows over 500kg sold to 265c/kg and averaged 261c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 265c/kg and averaged 248c/kg.

Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 248c/kg and averaged 214c/kg. Cows and calves sold to $1280/unit. Bulls up to 400kg reached 414c/kg and averaged 366c/kg.
