Entries open for Melbourne show beef, cattle and carcase comps

The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) is calling for entries to the 2013 Royal Melbourne Show Beef Cattle and Carcase Competition, with entry forms available online for the first time. 

The Beef Carcase Competition will be held from Monday, September 23 to Tuesday, September 24 and the Beef Cattle Competition from Friday, September 27 to Wednesday, October 2 during the 2013 Royal Melbourne Show.

Highlights of this year’s competition include the Borthwick Trophy, Gun Fitter Competition, School and College Paraders Competitions, the Waterford Charolais Youth Team Challenge and Supreme Beef Exhibit.

This year’s feature breed is the Hereford, which will include Herefords, Poll Herefords and Miniature Herefords.

“The Royal Melbourne Show Beef Cattle and Carcase Competition recognises and rewards the best of the best, with more than 800 cattle under one roof over 12 days,” RASV chief executive officer Mark O’Sullivan said.

“The RASV has made a number of changes to this year’s competition, including enhanced facilities so that exhibitors have a pleasant and memorable experience at the 2013 Royal Melbourne Show.”

The 2013 Royal Melbourne Show runs from Saturday, September 21 to Wednesday, October 2 at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

Entries to the Royal Melbourne Show Beef Cattle and Carcase Competition close on Friday, July 19.
