Beefed up producer forum in Armidale

THE future of beef production and marketing in NSW will headline a special forum to be held in Armidale on Tuesday, October 14.

Generic British commercial southernThe forum is jointly hosted by NSW Farmers and the Cattle Council of Australia and is open to all beef producers.

The program features a range of presentations from across the value chain covering the processing sector, meat eating quality research, the beef market outlook and a feature presentation on using of data, technology & automation on farm.

Cattle Council president, Andrew Ogilvie, said the forum aimed to focus on how the industry can meet the consumers taste for safe, high quality beef.

“These forums are an opportunity for information exchange. We aim to provide topical information to producers and we are really keen to hear directly from them on what the key challenges and opportunities are both on-farm and at an industry level,” Mr Ogilvie said.

“Ideas and feedback collated at the forum will be used by Cattle Council to complement future industry planning processes, and CCA’s advice to the levy-funded organisations.”

NSW Farmers cattle committee chair and beef producer Derek Schoen said the line-up of high-calibre speakers made for an informative and interactive event for farmers.

“At the end of the forum, there will also be an open panel Q&A Session which will allow for producers to engage in discussion, to ask questions and to provide feedback to Cattle Council and NSW Farmers,” Mr Schoen said.

“Last year we held the NSW beef producer forum in Casino and there was good producer attendance, robust discussion and feedback from the forum was fed back to NSW Farmers and CCA.”

The forum is also supported by Meat and Livestock Australia and is being held at the McClymont Lecture Theatre, University of New England, Armidale, on Tuesday, October 14, starting at 9am.
