Beef Australia CEO Simon Irwin said the championship provides an opportunity for commercial cattlemen and women to test their skills against the best in the country.
“The Championship also ensures Australia’s beef industry remains productive and profitable by selecting judges with comprehensive knowledge on current market specifications, relevant to market drivers and modern production parameters.
“In 2021, the Commercial Cattle Championship saw over 1500 head of cattle pass through the Central Queensland Livestock Exchange (CQLX) complex with the Sale of Champions totalling over $3.6 million.
“In 2024, we’ve set ourselves a goal of receiving a record number of nominations.
“We invite you to be involved in Beef Australia’s Nutrien Ag Solutions 2024 Commercial Cattle Championship to showcase your commercial herd to a national and international audience, with winners announced at the 2024 Awards Dinner on Monday, May 6 at Beef 2024”.
Beef Australia Commercial Cattle Championship Committee Chair Angus Creedon said the Championship provides participating producers with a fantastic opportunity to benchmark their stock against national standards.
“It also provides an invaluable platform for producers, breeders, and industry stakeholders to come together and celebrate the achievements and innovations within the cattle industry.
“More importantly, the Nutrien Ag Solutions Commercial Cattle Championship showcases the work our producers do, predominantly in the Central Queensland region, to the rest of Australia and the world”.
Queensland Minister for Agricultural Development and Fisheries and Minister for Rural Communities Mark Furner said the championship puts Queensland and Australian cattle on the international stage.
“Beef Australia is the biggest event in the beef calendar in Australia and attracts the finest of the nation’s cattle,” he said.
“The Palaszczuk Government is proud and excited to be supporting the event with $2.5 million, which is a great investment to showcase an industry worth more than $10 billion and which supports more than 40,000 jobs”.
Nutrien Ag Solutions NE Region Livestock Lead Colby Ede said championship showcases top quality beef cattle from breeders nationwide and a highlight in the Beef Australia calendar.
