Yarding 2300 Change +100
At Wagga cattle prices strengthened over secondary categories in a slightly bigger yarding of 2355.
All good quality trade cattle sold to dearer prices while the export market continues to soften.
Heavy cow’s fat score 3 and 4 sold from 255c to a top of 292c/kg. The average price for heavy cows in dollar per head terms was $1777.20
Trade cattle quality was very mixed reflecting the dry conditions. The better shaped steers and with good fat cover sold from 330c to 446c gaining 50c/kg.
Trade heifers were keenly sought with the grain assisted pushing prices higher to record a top price of 350c/kg.
Feeder steers prices were buoyant with the lighter weights 10c dearer selling at 340c to 376c/kg.
Medium weights lifted 10c also selling at 320c to 476c to average 365c/kg.
Feeder heifers were not the quality of previous weeks and supplies were lower.
Despite quality and reduced supplies rates were unchanged making from 300-356c/kg.
Restocking steers back to the paddock 200-280kg sold to strong local competition making from 432c to 450c/kg.
The heifer portion making from 300-410c/kg.
Heavy steers and bullock prices softened 4-5c selling from 278c to 360c/kg. Heavy steers to feed on 500-600kg sold from 385c to 358c/kg. Heavy heifers with shape sold from 290c to 350c/kg.
