Cattle prices at Wagga continued their stellar run with restockers and feedlots boosting sales.
Nearly all classes of stock were quoted as dearer thanks to a mix of stronger feedlot competition, along with backgrounders and restocker demand ramping up.
The standout prices of the sale were in the export run where steers weighing just over 530kg hitting 535c/kg .
Heavy steers to kill met steady competition from exporters and domestic processors making from 415to 500c/kg. Bullocks were in short supply selling at 420-460c/kg.
Restockers , back grounders and feedlots went head-to-head trying to secure supplies of well-bred steers under 400kg. The stronger competition pushed lighter weight steers 330-400kg up 26c/kg. The main lines returning to the paddock sold from 480c to 604c to average $2029 per head.
Light heifers purchased by restockers jumped 60c selling at 540-570c to average $1355 per head.
Feed steers were in reasonable supply and rates climbed as the sale progressed Medium weight prices jumped 9c to average 533c/kg.
Medium weight feeder heifers were in limited supply which resulted in a dearer trend 4c selling at 461-531c/kg.
Trade cattle were few, with heifers averaging 478c while trade steers 400-500kg off crop sold at 520 to 548c/kg.
The cow market sold to steady demand , and prices were generally unchanged. Heavy cows sold from 385-416c to average 403c/kg. The leaner types sold from 300-405c/kg.
