Yarding 7653 Change +3650

Interim Report. Cattle numbers at Dalby more than doubled the previous weeks level to 7,653 head.

Stock were drawn from a wide area with 95 head from Victoria 619 from New South Wales plus 326 from far Western Queensland.

The balance of 6,613 from the usual local supply areas. Buyer attendance was not as good as the previous week with a couple of regulars absent from the buying panel. Most classes at the time of this interim report have not maintained the improved levels of the previous week.

Yearling steers and heifers to feed averaged 10c to 15c/kg less. Cows also averaged 4c to 8c/kg cheaper. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 324c and made to 351c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 326c to average 300c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 276c and made to 296c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed sold to 285c and averaged 262c/kg. A handful of bullocks averaged 5c/kg less and made to 290c to average 285c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 171c and made to 180c/kg. Good heavy weight cows sold to 220c to average 215c/kg.

Heavy weight bulls made to 269c/kg.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 384c/kg and averaged 340c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 458c/kg and averaged 382c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 404c/kg and averaged 350c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 378c/kg and averaged 341c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topped at 336c/kg and averaged 300c/kg.

AT & PL Byrne, Pinelands, Injune sold Angus steers to 428c/kg, reaching a top of $933 to average $933.  The Angus heifers sold to 282c/kg, reaching a top of $577 to average $577.

Hiscock Cattle Co Pty Ltd, Hollys Downs, Augathella sold Brangus cross steers to 418c/kg, reaching a top of $970 to average $916. The Angus cross heifers sold to 280c/kg, reaching a top of $688 to average $616.

RA & T Brazier, Pallal sold Brangus steers to 408c/kg, reaching a top of $1,076 to average $939.  The Brangus cross heifers sold to 302c/kg, reaching a top of $750 to average $710.

Bass Cattle Co, Muldoon, Mungallala sold Droughmaster cross steers to 404c/kg, reaching a top of $1,606 to average $1,006.  The Santa Gertrudis cross heifers sold to 266c/kg, reaching a top $1,200 to average $680. The Santa Gertrudis cross cows sold to 210c/kg, reaching a top of $1,266 to average $925.
