Cattle were drawn from a wide supply area and a larger panel of buyers was present and operating with increased restocker and feedlot activity.

Steers dominated the yarding and the overall quality was mixed.

Prices continued to rise from last week under cloudy skies and with positive rainfall forecasts.

There were limited numbers of grown steers, grown heifers and bulls yarded.

Lightweight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers rose by 32c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers rose by 38c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows rose by 16c, while the medium weight 3 score cows rose by 25c/kg.

Calves made to 308.2c to average 255c/kg. Lightweight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers sold to 318.2c to average 292c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 302.2c to average 291c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed made to 294.2c, to average 286c/kg.

Lightweight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 268.2c to average 239c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to background or feed sold to 232.2c to average 227c/kg. Light weight grown steers to feed sold to 286.2c to average 286c/kg.

The largest sample of grown heifers sold to 210c to average 197.2c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows sold to 200.2c to average 167c, while the medium weight 3 score cows sold to 220.2c, to average 212c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows made to 223.2c, to average 218c/kg.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 308c/kg and averaged 282c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 318c/kg and averaged 285c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 302c/kg and averaged 284c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 292c/kg and averaged 277c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 278c/kg and averaging 231c/kg.
Cows and calves hit $510/unit.
