Roma sale 26 April 2022: Numbers rebound to 4086

Yarding 4086 Change 2369 

Numbers rebounded at with Roma Store sale, with a total yarding of 4,086, up by 2,369 head, despite recent rainfall. Cattle were drawn from a wide supply area, with numbers continuing to arrive from the West and North-West, in a yarding of improved quality, which was dominated by steers, and included increased numbers of heavy weight steers and bullocks. A good buying panel was present and operating, including all regular processors. Overall the market mostly improved for light and medium weight steers and heifers that were yarded in increased numbers, with competition strong on quality local lines. Cows also experienced improvements. Light weight steers improved by 40c, while medium weight steers under 330kg improved by 45c/kg. Heavy weight feeders eased by 20c/kg. Medium weight heifers under 400kg to feed fell by 12c, while heavy weight heifers to feed improved by 90c/kg. Heavy weight cows improved by 7c to 8c/kg.

The limited numbers of light weight yearling steers under 200kg sold to a top of 755.2c to average 755c, while light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 768.2c to average 685c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 754.2c to average 634c/kg. Yearling steers under 400kg to feed made to 618.2c to average 558c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed were in the largest sample for the day and reached a top of 568.2c to average 518c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers were also in limited supply and made to 712.2c to average 703c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 644.2c to average 606c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 622.2c to average 584c/kg. Yearling heifers under 400kg to restockers reached a top of 638.2c to average 608c/kg, while heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 535.2c to average 515c/kg.

Medium weight grown steers made to 468.2c to average 468c/kg. Grown heifers under 540kg made to 410.2c to average 399c/kg. PTIC cows to restockers made to a top of 392.2c/kg. Medium weight prime cows made to 375.2c to average 371c/kg. Heavy weight prime cows reached a top of 377.2c to average 369c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 370.2c to average 358c/kg. Local cows and calves sold to a top of $3,675/unit.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 750c/kg and averaged 594c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 768c/kg and averaged 659c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 754c/kg and averaged 604c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 638c/kg and averaged 544c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 578c/kg and averaging 479c/kg.

Cows and calves hit $3,675/unit.

Campmac Pty Ltd, Saramac Downs, Pickanjinnie, sold Angus cross steers to 728c/kg reaching a top of $1,758, to average $1,758. The Angus cross heifers sold to 644c/kg reaching a top of $1,522, to average $1522.
