The mixed quality yarding was drawn from a wider supply area and steers accounted for half of the yarding, with cows present in increased numbers. A good buying panel that included restockers, lot feeders and processors was present and operating. Strong competition saw top end steer prices improve from the previous week, however averages eased slightly with price fluctuations reflective of quality variations. Light weight steers under 280kg to restockers fell by 26c, while medium weight steers to feed fell by 23c to 32c/kg. Medium weight steers under 400kg to restockers improved by 6c while heavy feeders eased by 10c/kg. Light weight heifers fell by 3c to 61c, while medium weight heifers under 400kg to restockers improved by 3c/kg. Heavy weight heifers to processors improved by 1c/kg. Despite increased numbers of cows yarded, prices improved with medium weight cows up by 2c to 4c and heavy weight prime cows up by 3c/kg. Heavy weight bulls continued to improve, up by 26c/kg.

Light weight steers under 200kg made to 726.2c to average 601c/kg. Yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 738.2c to average 641c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers reached 690.2c to average 615c/kg. Yearling steers under 400kg to restockers made to 642.2c to average 568c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached a top of 528.2c to average 474c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg made to 522.2c to average 467c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 612.2c to average 522c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 546.2c to average 484c/kg. Yearling heifers under 400kg to restockers reached a top of 500.2c to average 483c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to processors made to 419.2c to average 415c/kg.

Medium weight grown steers made to 442.2c to average 420c/kg. The largest sample of grown heifers reached a top of 410.2c to average 367c/kg. Heavy weight prime cows made to 393.2c to average 384c/kg. A selection of heavy weight bulls made to 373.2c to average 358c/kg. The small number of cows and calves yarded sold to a top of $2,060/unit.

Weaner steers under 200kg topped at 726c/kg and averaged 593c/kg, weaner steers in the 200-280kg range reached 738c/kg and averaged 615c/kg. Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 690c/kg and averaged 597c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 642c/kg and averaged 517c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topping at 528c/kg and averaging 461c/kg.

Hayes Grazing Partnership (Hayes, RM & MG) sold Angus cross steers to 722c/kg reaching a top of $2,137 to average $1,883. The Angus cross heifers sold to 612c/kg reaching a top of $1,556 to average $1,430.

Barbara Plains Grazing, Barbara Plains, Wyandra sold Simbrah steers to 706c/kg reaching a top of $2,200 to average $1,918.

Bangor Cattle P/L, Bangor, Mungallala sold Charolais steers to 706c/kg reaching a top of $1,869 to average $1,810. The Charolais heifers sold to 506c/kg reaching a top of $1,587 to average $1,253.

RA & CA Bain, Mt. Eden, Roma sold Angus steers to 672c/kg reaching a top of $1,825 to average $1,686. The Angus heifers sold to 584c/kg reaching a top of $1,406 to average $1,406.
