Cattle were mostly drawn from the usual supply area through to the North-West and lines of quality cattle were included in the yarding. A good buying panel was present and operating including all regular processors. Steers accounted for over half of the yarding with an increase in numbers of heavy weight feeders. Overall the market continued to ease however prices and competition remained firm for quality cattle. Light weight steers fell by 10c to 44c, while medium weight steers to feed fell by 46c to 68c/kg. Heavy weight feeder steers fell by 15c/kg. Light weight heifers fell by 21c to 49c, while medium weight heifers fell by 14c to 71c/kg. Heavy weight heifers to feed fell by 15c/kg. Heavy weight prime cows eased by 23c to 31c/kg.

Light weight steers under 200kg made to 666.2c to average 644c/kg. Yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 696.2c to average 633c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 682.2c to average 610c/kg. Yearling steers under 400kg to restockers made to 668.2c to average 582c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed reached a top of 538.2c to average 516c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers made to 524.2c to average 498c/kg. Yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 554.2c to average 506c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 530.2c to average 496c/kg. Yearling heifers under 400kg to restockers reached a top of 510.2c to average 497c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 496.2c to average 467c/kg.

Heavy weight grown steers reached a top of 394.2c to average 394c/kg. The best of the grown heifers under 540kg made to 382.2c to average 382c/kg. A good run of PTIC red tag heifers sold to open auction to a top of $2,275/head. Heavy weight prime cows reached a top of 348.2c to average 335c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 310.2c to average 302c/kg. Cows and calves sold to a top of $3,080/unit.

Weaner steers under 220kg topped at 678c/kg and averaged 634c/kg, weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 696c/kg and averaged 617c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 682c/kg and averaged 591c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 668c/kg and averaged 538c/kg.

Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 548c/kg and averaging 490c/kg.

Bangor Cattle Co, Lowan Hills, Mitchell, sold Santa steers to 686c/kg, reaching a top of $1,998 to average $1,813. The Santa heifers sold to 510c/kg, reaching a top of $1,308 to average $1,210.

SR Phelps, Wilga View, Jackson, sold Angus cross steers to 682c/kg, reaching a top of $2,231 to average $2,087.

SD & MJ Russell, Willara, Augathella, sold Charolais cross steers to 682c/kg, reaching a top of $2,166 to average $1,877.

RF & DK Hams, Cooly, St George, sold Droughtmaster cross steers to 680c/kg, reaching a top of $2,071 to average $1,931.

Main Creek Pastoral, Dulacca, sold Santa cross heifers to 530c/kg, reaching a top of $1,838 to average $1,573.

Cornish Grazing Pty Ltd, Strathdale, Mitchell, sold Charolais heifers to 486c/kg, reaching a top of $2,229 to average $1,744.

Cows in the 300-400kg range reached 285c/kg and averaged 202c/kg, while cows in the 400kg-500kg range reached 340c/kg and averaged 271c/kg. Cows over 500kg topped at 348c/kg, averaging 317c/kg.
