Roma sale 12 July 2022: Yarding jumps by 4000

Yarding 7300 Change +4000

Numbers lifted by 4000 head at Roma today for a total of 7300. Cattle were mostly drawn from local areas alongside one consignment from McKinlay and northwest NSW. Overall quality was good and all the usual buyers were present and active however prices on most categories of yearlings could not maintain the levels of the previous week. The return of a southern processor lifted heavy cow prices buy 10c however grown steers and heifers eased.
Light weight restocker steers eased by 40c on last week selling to 654.2c to average 593c while restocker steers 280 to 330kg sold to 620.2c to averaging 559c back 6c/kg.

Medium weight yearling steers 330 to 400kg made up the majority of the steers holding firm with pens destined for the feedlot selling to 568.2c averaging 521c while those to restockers sold to 600.2c/kg. The supply of feeder steers over 400kg lifted and averages eased by 15c on last week selling to 528.2c to a average around 493c while those returning to the paddock made to an isolated 580.2c/kg.

Light weight restocker heifers were firm to slightly dearer selling to 556.2 to average 523c and restocker heifers 280 to 330kg made to 554c averaging 488c, back 21c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock sold 488.2c while those to feed made to 495c averaging 457c/kg. Heavy heifers to feed made to 482.2c.

Grown steers lost 10c selling to 398.2 to average 380c, grown heifers sold to 386c and heavy store cows made to 315.2 to average 311c/kg. Medium cows to the processor lifted by 5c selling to 335c to average 326c and good heavy 4 score cows over 520kg gained 7c topping to 350c to average 345c/kg.
The top cxc sold to $2050/unit.

Steers in the 280-330kg range reached 620c/kg and averaged 548c/kg, and steers in the 330-400kg range reached 600c/kg and averaged 493c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-500kg range topping at 580c/kg and averaging 487c/kg.

Farmleigh Grazing, Tunis, Injune, sold Angus steers to 626c/kg, reaching a top of $2,061 to average $1,588. The Charolais heifers sold to 548c/kg, reaching a top of $1,534 to average $1,318.

CJ & DM Harland, Glenolive, Injune, sold Santa steers to 614/kg, reaching a top of $2,197 to average $1,790.

Sand Country Beef Pty Ltd, Moonah, Injune, sold Angus steers to 606c/kg, reaching a top of $1,952 to average $1,636. The Angus heifers sold to 530c/kg, reaching a top of $1,398 to average $1,398.

FG & R Dunn, Megine, Roma, sold Santa steers to 606c/kg, reaching a top of $1,907 to average $1,803.

PD & JL Fisher, Quilberry, Charleville, sold Santa steers to 604c/kg, reaching a top of $2,007 to average $1,797. The Santa heifers sold to 506c/kg, reaching a top of $2,079 to average $1,499.
