Roma sale 2 Nov 2021: Firm market for 5096

Nutrien Ag Solutions Roma agent Rod Turner with a pen Glen Valley Pastoral Co steers at last week’s Roma store sale. The steers sold to 794c/kg, reaching a top of $2,198 to average $1,553.

Yarding 5096 Change -190

Steers continued to dominate the yarding and cattle were drawn from a wide supply area.

The overall quality of the yarding varied but included some limited runs of quality single vendor lines.

A smaller buying panel was operating, with a reduced Southern restocker presence, however all regular processors were present.

The market mostly held firm from the previous week with price fluctuations reflective of quality variations.

Light weight steers to restockers rose by 7c to 14c. Medium weight steers under 330kg to restockers rose by 23c. Heavy weight steers to feed improved by 11c.

Light weight heifers under 200kg improved by 89c while light weight heifers under 280kg to restockers fell by 38c. medium weight heifers to feed fell by 7c to 39c. Heavy weight heifers to processors rose by 10c.

Cows eased slightly with medium weight cows to processors back by 8c while heavy weight prime cows fell by 2c.

Light weight yearling steers under 200kg sold to 792.2c to average 724c/kg. Light weight yearling steers under 280kg to restockers made to 770.2c to average 678c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 330kg to restockers sold to 680.2c to average 602c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers under 400kg to feed made to a top of 608.2c to average 566c while heavy weight yearling steers over 400kg to feed reached a top of 536.2c to average 526c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers under 200kg to restockers reached a top of 720.2c to average 665c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers under 280kg to restockers made to 696.2c to average 592c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers under 330kg to restockers sold to 610.2c to average 514c while medium weight yearling heifers under 400kg to feed reached a top of 574.2c to average 558c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to processors sold to 440.2c to average 421c/kg.

The best of the limited grown steers made to 490.2c to average 430c while the heavy weight grown heifers sold to a top of 418.2c to average 416c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows reached a top of 387.2c to average 385c while heavy weight 4 score prime cows made to a top of 399.2c to average 394c/kg. Heavy weight bulls reached a top of 386.2c to average 380c/kg.

Cows and calves made to a top of $2440/unit.
