Yarding 8650 Change +985
A lift of 1000 head saw numbers to 8650 at Roma this week. The yarding was dominated by yearling steers and overall quality was good with cattle drawn from local areas and the far west.
Restocker support from north west and central Queensland helped keep prices firm on light weight yearling steers and heifers, and medium weight yearlings improved by 5 to 10c/kg.
Processors were consistent on cows and store cows improved.
Light weight restocker steers sold to 378.2c to hold firm at an average of 350c while the restocker steers 280 to 330kg improved by 9c topping at 368.2c to average 346c/kg.
Improved support from restockers saw prices for medium weight steers lift by 12c to a top of 362.2c and steers to feed for the domestic market were firm selling to 364.2 with most around 341c/kg.
A limited number of heavy feeder steers sold to 340.2c to average 332c/kg. Good local support saw heifers 280 to 330kg lift by 9c topping at 300.2c to average 271c and those 330 to 400kg to feed made to 294.2c with most around 261c/kg.
