Yarding numbers increased by 12% from the previous store sale.

It was a mixed quality yarding with several pens of good sorts penned, plus large consignments of plain western Queensland cattle.

All the usual restocker buyers were at the sale and were more selective when buying. Extra feedlot buyer competition lifted medium weight yearling steers prices by 13c/kg, while heavy weight yearling steers to feed held firm in price.

Good quality light weight heifers sold well and medium weight yearling heifers to feed were 6c/kg cheaper on average. Steer calves sold to 420c, while light weight yearling steers made to 418c and averaged between 378c and 394c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed topped at 374c and averaged 356c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed earned to 358c and averaged 339c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers sold to 394c and averaged between 342c and 372c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed reached 320c and averaged 303c, down 6c/kg. Store cows going to restocker buyers sold to 252c and averaged between 228c and 239c/kg.

 

Roma light steers reached 420c/kg

A total of 6700 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 420c/kg and averaged 397c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 414c/kg and averaged 383c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 414c/kg and averaged 354c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 370c/kg and averaged 327c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 358c/kg and averaging 322c/kg.

Aus-Zea, Boxvale, Injune, sold Angus-cross steers to 418c/kg for 211kg to return $884/head.

Simmac Pastoral Co, Mt Maria, Morven, sold Angus-cross steers to 414c for 286kg to return $1187.

Palmtree Grazing Co, Palmtree, Taroom, sold Santa-cross steers to 400c for 275kg return $1104.

C Hudson, Maranoa Downs, Mitchell, sold Cross bred steers to 398c for 273kg to return $1087. The Cross bred heifers sold to 360c for 298kg to return $1073.

Bronte Cattle Co, Bronte, Charleville, sold Santa steers to 396c for 248kg to return $984.

K & R Burey, Yarara, St George, sold Santa-cross steers to 387c for 273kg to return $1057.

G & G Burey, Springhill, Amby, sold Brahman-cross steers to 384c for 340kg to return $1308.

T & A Agar, Karoola, Charleville, sold Droughtmaster steers to 384c for 310kg to return $1191.

Sandover Pastoral Co, Ammaroo Station, Alice Springs, sold Angus steers to 384c for 248kg to return $954. The Santa heifers sold to 366c for 215kg to return $787.

Killarney Park Grazing, Killarney, Tambo, sold Santa steers to 381c for 316kg to return $1206.

Sutton Beef, Bundabar, Glenmorgan, sold Santa-cross steers to 378c for 317kg to return $1199.

Raceview Pastoral Co, Raceview, Charleville, sold Santa-cross steers to 378c for 281kg to return $1063.

Bangor Cattle Co, Bangor, Mungallala, sold Charolais steers to 360c for 327kg to return $1180.

Ian Duff, Duffields, Roma, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 344c for 450kg to return $1552.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 320c/kg and averaged 279c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 366c/kg and averaged 318c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 368c/kg and averaged 346c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 394c/kg and averaged 352c/kg.

Wallabella, Wallumbilla, sold Brangus-cross heifers to 360c for 245kg to return $882.

W & M Graham, Catherinvale, Roma, sold Angus-cross heifers to 358c for 301kg to return $1080.

Karinya Cattle Co, Karinya, Taroom, sold Droughtmaster-cross heifers to 320c for 314kg to return $1007.

Cows over 500kg sold to 266c/kg and averaged 238c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 250c/kg and averaged 233c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 252c/kg and averaged 231c/kg.

Cows and calves topped at $1520/unit and averaged $1205.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 400c/kg and averaged 312c/kg.
