Yarding numbers remained at a high level. The store cattle penned showed more signs of dry conditions compared to previous sales. Demand from NSW restocker buyers declined slightly and the plainer store cattle were cheaper than last week.

Light weight yearling steers were 14c cheaper, while good medium and heavy weight yearling steers continued to attracted solid feedlot buyer competition. Light and medium weight heifers were generally cheaper in price. Steer calves sold to 344c and averaged 331c, down 6c, while heifer calves topped at 284c and averaged 250c, down 39c/kg. Light weight yearling steers topped at 348c and averaged between 315c and 342c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed reached 343c and averaged 322c, down 4c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed earned to 336c and averaged 321c, down 5c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock hit 314c, while most sold to feedlot, processors and restockers for between 220c and 298c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 316c and averaged 270c, down 30c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to processors topped at 305c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows reached 248c and averaged 235c, while heavy weight 4 score cows topped at 258c/kg. Santa-cross cows with 1 to 2 month old calves sold to $1,160 and most averaged $804/unit.

Roma light steers hit 372c/kg

A total of 3094 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 372c/kg and averaged 322c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 334c/kg and averaged 301c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 332c/kg and averaged 298c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 306c/kg and averaged 292c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 310c/kg and averaging 303c/kg.

S Kidman & Co, Morney Plains, Windorah, sold Santa-cross steers to 372c/kg for 163kg to return $606/head. The Santa-cross heifers sold to 302c for 162kg to return $490.

Peel Mungerie, Inverness, Blackall, sold Santa steers sold to 362c for 157kg to return $571. The Santa-cross heifers sold to 314c for 135kg to return $426.

Alice Downs Partners, Alice Downs, Morven, sold Santa-cross steers to 338c for 184kg to return $623.

R & S Hoolihan, Knockbine, Taroom, sold Angus-cross steers to 338c for 159kg to return $537. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 290c for 192kg to return $558.

J & J Creevey, Lucknow, Augathella, sold Charolais steers to 334c for 246kg to return $824. The Charolais heifers sold to 290c for 306kg to return $889.

B & N Bauer, Arlington, Augathella, sold Charbray steers to 334c for 241kg to return $806. The Charolais heifers sold to 298c for 232kg to return $691.

Dalwai Holdings, Gracemere, Mitchell, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 332c for 295kg to return $980. The Droughtmaster-cross heifers sold to 292c for 236kg to return $691.

A & R Scott, Mayfield South, Roma, sold Santa steers to 330c for 212kg to return $700.

P Campbell, Prarievale, Augathella, sold Santa-cross steers to 322c for 249kg to return $802.

M & T Wales, Darra Downs, Meandarra, sold Angus-cross steers to 320c for 268kg to return $860.

A & Y Emery, Mt Beverly, Wallumbilla, sold Angus steers to 318c for 251kg to return $798.

Pink Hills Pastoral Co, Llanrheidol, Winton, sold Droughtmaster steers to 318c for 215kg to return $684.

Ian Brumpton Holdings, Oaklands, Roma, sold Angus steers to 316c for 285kg to return $901.

Noogilla Cattle Co, Woodlands, Mitchell, sold Droughtmaster steers to 308c for 459kg to return $1415.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 286c/kg and averaged 270c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 290c/kg and averaged 277c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 298c/kg and averaged 258c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 314c/kg and averaged 280c/kg.

Cows over 500kg sold to 250c/kg and averaged 240c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 250c/kg and averaged 212c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 217c/kg and averaged 174c/kg.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 326c/kg and averaged 266c/kg.
