Roma Store 23 July 2013: Light steers hit 202c/kg

Weekly Roma Store Sale press report:

A total of 5800 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale on Tuesday.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 202c/kg and averaged 172c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 188c/kg and averaged 156c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 192c/kg and averaged 159c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 186c/kg and averaged 169c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 177c/kg and averaging 163c/kg.

Glen Valley Pastoral Co, Glen Valley, Jundah, sold Santa steers to 202c/kg for 217kg to return $439/head. The consignment averaged 182c for 213kg to make $387.

J & B Russell, Willara, Augathella, sold Charolais-cross steers to 185c for 320kg to return $592. The consignment averaged 173c for 307kg to make $531. The Charolais-cross heifers sold to 143c for 309kg to return $443. The consignment averaged 143c for 285kg to make $407.  

R & L McQueen, Strathfillan, Winton, sold Braford steers to 184c for 161kg to return $297. The consignment averaged 180c for 149kg to make $269.

S Philp, Yeovil, Wandoan, sold EU Hereford-cross steers to 181c for 400kg to return $724. The consignment averaged 167c for 456kg to make $759.

Cameron Fraser Grazing, Culburnie, Barcaldine, sold Santa steers to 178c for 369kg to make $657. The consignment averaged 167c for 371kg to return $619.

R Williams, Beele Eau, Taroom, sold Hereford-cross steers to 177c for 410kg to make $727. The consignment averaged 166c for 464kg to return $772.

Bangor Cattle Co, Bangor, Mungallala, sold Charolais-cross steers to 176c for 430kg to make $759. The consignment averaged 177c for 367kg to return $648. The Charolais-cross heifers made to 133c for 368kg to make $490. The consignment averaged 127c for 364kg to return $463.

James Cox, East Lynne, Mungallala, sold Brangus steers to 175c for 385kg to return $674. The consignment averaged 172c for 361kg to make $623.

E & C Rolfe, Nindinna, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 174c for 360kg to make $627. The consignment averaged 159c for 318kg to return $504. The Charolais-cross heifers to 142c for 295kg to make $419.

G & M Scott, Ruby Farms, Wallumbilla, sold Angus-cross steers to 172c for 383kg to return $660. The consignment averaged 171c for 358kg to make $612.

S & M Russell, Willara, Augathella, sold Charolais-cross steers to 169c for 288kg to return $488. The Charolais-cross heifers sold to 150c for 335kg to make $502. The consignment averaged 140c for 275kg to return $384.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 140/kg and averaged 119c/kg.

Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 153c/kg and averaged 106c/kg.

Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 144c/kg and averaged 125c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 144c/kg and averaged 134c/kg.

JJ Farming Trust, Hillcrest, Roma, sold Santa-cross heifers to 144c for 284kg to return $409. The consignment averaged 136c for 258kg to make $352.

Braemar Investment, Lighthouse, Blackall, sold EU Droughtmaster heifers to 132c for 329kg to make $435. The consignment averaged 132c for 302kg to return $400.

Cows over 500kg hit 138c/kg and averaged 116c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at 120c/kg and averaged 95c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 118c/kg and averaged 98c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $650/unit and averaged $510.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 150c/kg and average 129c/kg.
