Good numbers of store cattle were penned again, despite light rainfall across the supply area.

The quality of store cattle yarded was very mixed with good lines of yearling steers and heifers consigned, but plainer medium and heavy weight steers.

Restocker buyers paid up to 442c for early weaned steer calves, while feedlot buyers were more selective when purchasing on heavy weight yearling steers. Steer calves topped at 442c and heifers calves made to 406c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers earned to 432c and averaged between 390c and 399c/kg. Plainer sorts sold to 348c and average 329c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 390c and averaged 374c/kg.

Heavy weight yearling steers reached 376c and averaged 366c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers earned to 404c and averaged between 336c and 384c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers topped at 382c and averaged 367c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows hit 260c and averaged 244c/kg. Heavy weight 4 score cows sold to 270c/kg.

Cows and calves reached $1,400 and averaged $1,273/unit. – NLRS

Roma light steers hit 442c/kg

A total of 6507 head of cattle were consigned at Roma’s Store Sale.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 442c/kg and averaged 385c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 432c/kg and averaged 375c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 412c/kg and averaged 369c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 392c/kg and averaged 361c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 376c/kg and averaging 358c/kg.

Allen Pastoral Co, Oakvale, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 442c/kg for 150kg to return $663/head.

Wheatleigh Station, Wheatleigh, Charleville, sold Angus-cross steers to 438c for 165kg to return $726. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 406c for 166kg to return $675.

M & E Baker, Rosedale, Wandoan, sold Charolais-cross steers to 426c for 230kg to return $980.

Kathryn Moloney, Booringa Downs, Mitchell, sold Simmental-cross steers to 426c for 211kg to return $900.

Aus-Zea, Boxvale, Injune, sold Angus-cross steers to 422c for 215kg to return $907.

Boongargil Pastoral Co, Ellangowan, Augathella, sold Droughtmaster-cross steers to 420c for 262kg to return $1103.

Dart Pastoral Co, Springbok, Injune, sold Charolais-cross steers to 417c for 237kg to return $990. The Charolais-cross heifers to 398c for 223kg to return $888.

Russell Ian Mocker, Surprise, St George, sold Santa steers to 414c for 271kg to return $1125. The Santa heifers sold to 400c for 241kg to return $968.

R & K Crozier, Highlands, Tambo, sold Angus-cross steers to 412c for 301kg to return $1241.

John & Lyn Hudson, Maranoa Downs, Mitchell, sold Cross bred steers to 410c for 228kg to return $936. The Cross bred heifers sold to 388c for 243kg to return $943.

Andrews Brothers, Nardu, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 402c for 222kg to return $894.

D & C McInnerney, Combarngo, Yuleba, sold Charolais-cross steers to 372c for 472kg to return $1759.

Belfast Investments, Belfast, Winton, sold Brahman steers to 371c for 442kg to return $1642.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 384c/kg and averaged 338c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 388c/kg and averaged 336c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 400c/kg and averaged 368c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 406c/kg and averaged 379c/kg.

Biddenham Pastoral, Biddenham, Augathella, sold Simbrah-cross heifers to 404c for 204kg to return $827.

P Cambell, Prarievale, Augathella, sold Hereford-cross heifers to 396c for 215kg to return $854.

L & M Price, Mt Hope, Wallumbilla, sold Droughtmaster heifers to 384c for 298kg to return $1147.

Brett Conroy, Penrose, Roma, sold Droughtmaster-cross heifers to 380c for 255kg to return $971.

M & C Stafford, Cooinda, Yuleba, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 376c for 285kg to return $1075.

Earle Grazing, Injune, sold Charolais-cross heifers to 370c for 403kg to return $1494.

Brown & Sons, Beenfield, McKinlay, sold Droughtmaster heifers to 346c for 248kg to return $859.

Cows over 500kg sold to 270c/kg and averaged 258c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 340c/kg and averaged 250c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 320c/kg and averaged 226c/kg.

Cows and calves sold to $1400 and averaged $1273/unit.
