Yarding 3766 Change 0

The first store sale for the New Year attracted a small yarding and overall quality was good to useful with some excellent lines included in the line-up.

Isolated falls of rain across parts of the supply area encouraged a large number of restockers and backgrounders into the market.

A good panel of feeder buyers were active across the medium and heavy weight ranges of the yearling steers and heifers. The usual panel of export processors were also in attendance and provided very strong demand in the cow section.

Steer calves to restockers made to 423.2c with mixed sex calves averaging 400c/kg. A good sample of light weight yearling steers returned to the paddock at an average of 395c with some to 414.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged in the early 350c range with some to 390.2c/kg. The largest number of heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 344c and sold to 352.2c/kg. A fair supply of light weight yearling heifers mostly sold to restockers at an average of 347c with some to 372.2c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 310c and made to 320c/kg.

Restockers were very active on plain condition cows with sales to 241.2c/kg. The best of the medium weight cows made to 254.2c to average 250c/kg. A fair sample of good heavy cows made to 265.2c with most around 257c/kg. Heavy bulls made to 264.2c/kg. Cows and calves made to $2,075/unit.
