Yarding 8846 Change -3396

Good numbers of cattle were yarded and the overall quality of store cattle penned declined.

Good quality light weight yearling steers continued to attract solid restocker competition, while slightly lower prices for medium and heavy weight steers reflected the plainer quality on offer. Processors were more active on light weight yearling heifers and feedlot buyers paid up to 292c/kg for suitable feeder weight medium yearling heifers. Cows and calves sold to $1350 and averaged $965/unit. Steer calves sold to 312c and averaged 283c, while heifer calves sold to 246c and averaged 223c/kg. Light weight yearling steers made to 320c and averaged between 290c and 297c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed sold to 293c and averaged 273c, down 21c, and those returning to the paddock reached 310c and averaged 287c, down 14c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed earned to 293c and averaged 273c, down 4c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to restocker buyers sold to 296c and averaged between 262c and 277c/kg. Those to feedlot buyers made to 262c and averaged 240c, while those to processors sold to 276c and averaged 251c, up 4c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed reached 292c and averaged 254c, down 13c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed earned to 252c and averaged 250c, down 20c/kg. Medium weight grown steers to feed hit 271c and averaged 267c, up 2c/kg. Light store cows reached 186c and mostly averaged between 166c and 178c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows made to 224c and averaged 206c, down 1c/kg. Medium weight 4 score cows sold to 232c and averaged 230c, while heavy weight 4 score cows topped at 236c and averaged 231c, down 9c/kg.

Roma heifers to 296c/kg

30-6-15 Roma StoreA total of 8846 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale. Weaners under 220kg topped at 320c/kg and averaged 285c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 320c/kg and averaged 286c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 314c/kg and averaged 278c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 310c/kg and averaged 276c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 293c/kg and averaging 267c/kg.

S & M Phelps, Wilga View, Jackson, sold Angus-cross steers to 320c/kg for 278kg to return $891/head. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 256c for 227kg to return $581.

G & M Owens, Arranmore, Longreach, sold Santa steers to 316c for 205kg to return $648.

M & M Bright, Karoola Park, Roma, sold Angus-cross steers to 314c for 311kg to return $977.

Layershire, Koorandai, Roma, sold Angus steers to 312c for 225kg to return $705.

L & S Hanna, Terrarara, Mitchell, sold Santa-cross steers to 310c for 355kg to return $1104.

Green Acres Pastoral Co, Ivellen Station, Julia Creek, sold Red Angus steers to 298c for 248kg to return $741. The Brangus heifers sold to 262c for 232kg to return $609.

Tandarra, Tyres Flat, Wallumbilla, sold Charolais-cross steers to 297c for 321kg to return $954.

Dalmally Grzing Co, Dalmally, Roma, sold Droughtmaster steers to 293c for 436kg to return $1278.

Angus and Antonette Anderson, East Sunrise, Roma, sold Charolais-cross steers to 292c for 297kg to return $869.

M & L Huntly, Kilburnie, Muckadilla, sold Charolais-cross steers to 290c for 356kg to return $1035.

Roslin Grazing Co, Roslin, Mungallala, sold Charolais steers to 288c for 434kg to return $1251. The Charolais heifers sold to 283c for 376kg to return $1065.

Onley & Co, Bulala, Roma, sold Romagnola steers to 288c for 282kg to return $812.

Clarenden Cattle Co, Coleraine, Blackall, sold Charolais-cross steers to 286c for 350kg to return $1001.

Heifers in the 350-450kg range reached 288c/kg and averaged 248c/kg. Heifers in the 280-350kg range topped at 296c/kg and averaged 239c/kg. Heifers in the 220-280kg range topped at 280c/kg and averaged 250c/kg, while heifers under 220kg topped at 280c/kg and averaged 241c/kg.

C & J Varidel, Carisbrooke, Yuleba, sold Angus-cross heifers to 296c for 297kg to return $880.

Cooma Cattle Co, Glen Fosslyn, Glenmorgan, sold Droughtmaster-cross heifers to 288c for 376kg to return $1083.

C & D Gauld, Rutland, Mitchell, sold Santa heifers to 286c for 415kg to return $1189.

Dart Pastoral Co, Springbok, Injune, sold Droughtmaster heifers to 252c for 306kg to return $773.

Cows over 500kg sold to 236c/kg and averaged 222c/kg, while cows 400-500kg topped at reached 236c/kg and averaged 203c/kg. Cows in the 300-400kg sold to 220c/kg and averaged 184c/kg.

Argyle Pastoral Co, Ruthchillo, McKinlay, sold Brahman cows to 230c for 466kg to return $1072.

Cows and calves sold to $1350/unit and averaged $965/unit.

Bulls up to 400kg reached 282c/kg and average 242c/kg.
