Yarding 6853 Change 4385

The number of cattle yarded increased this week, as parts of western Queensland dry out from recent rainfall.

Large consignments of cattle were drawn from North West areas, mainly Winton.

The bigger store sale attracted more restocker buyers to the market and all the usual feedlot buyers were operating. Prices remained solid for most categories of yearling steers, while heifers continued to receive plenty of competition from feedlot and restocker buyers.

The few store cows penned sold to 243c/kg. Early weaned steer calves sold to 454c and averaged 446c, while heifer calves made to 412c and averaged 404c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers earned to 442c and averaged 405c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed reached 378c and averaged 367c, and those to restocker buyers sold to 410c and averaged 394c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers hit 378c and averaged between 363c and 367c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers returned to the paddock at 424c and most sold between 360c and 401c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed earned to 370c and averaged 351c/kg. Store cows sold to 243c and averaged 237c/kg.

Cows and calves hit $1,820/unit.
