Yarding 10,225 Change 4125

Yarding numbers jumped 40 percent on the previous store sale. Good numbers of restocker buyers from across Queensland and NSW were at the sale, with large single vendor lines of very good quality weaner steers and heifers penned from the local supply area. Also, sizable consignments were also yarded from central-west and north-west regions of the state. Feedlot buyers displayed solid demand for good, heavy weight yearling feeder steers over 400kg. Light weight yearling heifers were 5c to 8c cheaper, but good quality sorts hit 218c/kg. Medium weight feeder yearling heifers improved 3c/kg.

Light weight yearling steers sold to 223c and averaged 203c, up 17c, while D muscled lines averaged 154c, up 6c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made to 185c and averaged 173c, up 1c, while those returning to the paddock hit 202c and averaged 189c, up 12c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed earned to 190c and averaged 183c, increasing 10c, while those to restocker buyers sold to 197c and averaged 191c, to be 14c/kg dearer.

Good quality light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock topped at 218c and averaged 216c, while regular drafts made to 152c and averaged 133c, down 5c/kg. Those which sold to feedlot buyers made to 161c and averaged 141c, easing 8c, while those to processors earned to 135c and
averaged 126c, to be 8c/kg cheaper. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 160c and averaged 152c, up 3c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed topped at 162c and averaged 150c/kg.

Medium weight 2 score cows to processors sold to 94c and averaged 78c, while those to restockers reached 94c and averaged 87c/kg. Medium weight 3 score cows sold to 123c and averaged 115c, while medium weight 4 score cows reached 134c and heavy weight 4 score cows sold to 136c/kg. Cows and calves sold to $500/unit.

Roma steers hit 223c/kg

A total of 10,225 head of cattle were penned at Roma’s Store Sale.

Weaners under 220kg topped at 192c/kg and averaged 164c/kg, while weaner steers in the 220-280kg range reached 222c/kg and averaged 186c/kg. Steers in the 280-350kg range reached 223c/kg and averaged 187c/kg, and steers in the 350-400kg range reached 193c/kg and averaged 177c/kg. Feeder steers in the 400-550kg range topping at 197c/kg and averaging 167c/kg.

The Shaw family, J.J.S Grazing, Double J, Injune, sold Angus-cross steers to 223c/kg for 292kg to return $651/head. The Angus-cross heifers sold to 218c for 282kg to return $616.

Kindee Pastoral Co, Cowangah, Taroom, sold Santa-cross steers to 213c for 321kg to return $685. The Charolais-cross heifers sold to 170c for 295kg to return $502.

R & D Loughnan, Alicker, Roma, sold Charbray-cross steers to 204c for 295kg to return $602. The Charbray-cross heifers sold to 164c for 326kg to return $536.
