Yarding 4000 Change – 2030

Numbers fell by 2000 for a yarding of just on 4000. It was a fair quality yarding with good numbers of prime cattle in all sections along with fair numbers to suit the feeders. There were also large numbers of far western cattle, a number of which are starting to show the effects of the dry conditions.

Young cattle to the trade were up to 10c dearer with prime vealers and yearlings selling from 304c to 392c/kg. Lightweight feeder steers were 10c cheaper, the heavier weight steers and the feeder heifers though were 7c to 15c/kg dearer. Feeder steers sold from 306c to 400c while the feeder heifers sold from 255c to 338c/kg.  Young cattle to the backgrounders remain solid with young steers selling to 442c/kg.

Grown steers were up to 15c cheaper ,the grown heifers though were firm to 5c/kg dearer. Prime grown steers sold from 305c to 380c while the prime grown heifers sold from 300c to 356c/kg. Cows finished 28c to 35c cheaper with the 2 and 3 scores selling from 180c to 268c/kg. Prime heavy weight cows sold from 257c to 297c to average 280c/kg. The restockers were very active on suitable lines of cows with Charolais cows PTIC selling from 258c to 308c/kg. Heavy bulls were cheaper selling to 313c/kg.
