Yarding 2825 Change -955
The supply of stock reduced to 2,825 head the lowest level for 14 weeks, at the second last sale before the annual break at Dalby.
Cattle were drawn from a wide area including far Western Queensland as well as South Australia. The regular export buyers were in attendance and operating along with the usual feed and trade buyers, plus local and interstate restockers.
Light weight yearling steers and heifers returning to the paddock sold to a dearer trend. Yearling steers and heifers to feed for the domestic market also experienced a lift in average prices. The fair sample of heavy grown steers and bullocks to export processors averaged 6c/kg better. Medium weight cows returning to the paddock improved in price by 16c/kg. Good heavy weight cows to export processors averaged 2c/kg dearer.
Light weight yearling steers under 200kg made to 568c to average 529c/kg. A relatively large selection of yearling steers under 280kg averaged 493c and sold to 556c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 440c to 461c with a few pens reaching 496c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 426c to average 416c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock or background averaged from 460c to 474c and made to 518c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 411c to 429c and sold to 450c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 384c and made to 408c/kg. Bullocks made to 365.2c to average 352c/kg. Medium weight plain condition cows sold to restockers at an average of 290c with the occasional pen reaching 314c/kg.
Good heavy weight cows to export processors made to 295c to average 289c/kg.
Heavy weight bulls to export processors made to 316c, with one heavy weight bull returning to the paddock at 356c/kg.

With the forecast predicting rain, we saw a smaller yarding. A good panel of buyer’s present saw all markets sell to a dearer trend. A quality line of Store Cows from Muttaburra was a highlight of the sale, making 314.2 c/kg @ 450kg, $1,413.90/hd.
