Dalby sale 7 April 2021: Strong demand in bigger yarding

A full panel of export buyers was present and operating, plus the regular feed and trade buyers, as well as local and interstate restockers.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 18c/kg better. Yearling steers to feed the domestic market averaged 4c/kg dearer.

Heavy weight yearling steers to feed sold to a cheaper trend, however top end quality lines sold close to the previous weeks level. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed improved in price by up to 25c/kg in places. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed experienced very little change in price.

The larger supply of cows sold to a mixed trend with plain condition cows returning to the paddock improving in price by 8c, however good heavy weight cows to export processors averaged 11c/kg less. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock were well supplied and made to 670.2c a large sample averaging 583c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 475c to 507c, with the occasional sale to 546c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 436c and made to 474c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock or background made to 606c with a large selection averaging 526c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 436c to 458c with sales to 504c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 422c to average 395c/kg. Medium weight grown steers to feed made to 410c to average 380c/kg.

A small selection of bullocks over 750kg to export processors made to 367.2c/kg.

Medium weight plain condition cows returning to the paddock made to 298c to average 285c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows to export processors averaged 262c, and 3 scores 279c/kg. The best of the medium weight cows made to 307c to average 296c/kg. Good heavy weight cows made to 310c a fair sample averaging 300c/kg.

Heavy weight bulls 313c/kg.
