Yarding 6703 Change +1407
The number of stock at Dalby increased again this week with agents penning 6,703 head 1,407 more than the previous sale.
Export buyer attendance was good and included in the line up were some additional local operators as well as southern buyers.
The regular feed and trade buyers were present and active along with restockers.
Despite the very large numbers of young cattle buyers were able to absorb the increased supply plus lift prices across a number of classes.
Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 10c/kg dearer. Heavyweight yearling steers to feed improved by 15c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers to restockers and feeder heifers averaged 20c/kg better. Heavy grown steers and bullocks sold to a dearer market. Medium weight 2 score cows could not maintain the levels of the previous week. Heavyweight cows were cheaper in places however high yielding classes from Western districts met very strong competition.
Lightweight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to 426c to average 380c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 366c to 373c with sales to 402c/kg. Heavyweight yearling steers to feed made to 382c to average 364c/kg. Lightweight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to the occasional 370c with most around 315c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 356c to average 332c and the heavyweight portion made to 359c to average 319c/kg. Heavy grown steers made to 362c to average 343c/kg. Bullocks averaged 330c with some over 750kg making to 335c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 236c/kg. Heavyweight 3 scores averaged 272c and made to 289c/kg. Good heavyweight cows averaged 300c with some from the west making to an isolated 324c/kg. Heavyweight bulls made to 291c/kg.
