The yarding consisted of a good supply of weaner cattle and yearlngs, grown steers were well represented, while there was a good yarding of cows.

Quality was fairly good with several lots of well finished cattle through the sale, some supplementary fed, however there was a fair percentage of plain conditioned cattle from drought affected areas.

The market was strong with light restocker steers selling to 291c, while weaner steers topped at 312c/kg. Feeder steers were up to 10c dearer, medium weights sold to 309c for an average of 296c, while heavy feeder steers sold to 307c to average 291c/kg. Feeder heifers were 10c dearer toping at 285c to average 266c/kg. There was a large number of well-bred steers and heifers offered that were suitable for restockers and feeders.

The yarding of export cattle consisted of a large number of cattle from local areas, as well as Western and Northern districts. The yarding of grown steers saw several pens of well finished steers suitable for feeders and processors. Grown steers met keen processor demand to be 3c to 10c/kg dearer. The C4s sold to 312c for an average of 295c/kg.

Grown heifers sold to 251c/kg. The yarding of cows consisted of consignments from a wide area of the North and West as well as local districts. Quality was mixed with some good runs of high yielding cows through the sale, however there was a large number of plain conditioned cows offered. The cow market ranged from 10c to 15c/kg dearer. Medium weight 2 scores averaged 201c, while medium weight 3 scores averaged 229c/kg. Heavy cows sold from 240c to 259c/kg.

6132 cattle were yarded in Dalby today which saw export and feeder cattle in high demand.  Fat cows got up to 259c to average 10 to 15c better.  Heavy grown steers and bullocks topped at 312.2c to average 8 to 10c dearer.  Lightweight weaners sold similar to last week’s prices with the better quality lines improving 10 to 12 cents. – Jordan Wenham, GDL, Dalby
