Yarding 3727 Change -1281

There was a large reduction in numbers with the Dalby agents yarding 3,727 head, 1,281 less than the previous sale.

Cattle continued to be drawn from a wide area, with 322 head from New South Wales and 1,022 from far Western Queensland, and the remaining 2,383 head from the usual supply area.

Export buyer attendance was good, however one major exporter processor was not very active in the cow portion.

The regular feeder, local and interstate restockers were very active in the market.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock were noticeably dearer. Yearling steers to feed averaged 4c to 14c/kg better. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background improved by 8c/kg. However yearling heifers to feed lifted in price by up to 40c/kg.

Apart from cows returning to the paddock improving in price, the vast majority of the cows to processors lost 15c to 23c/kg. Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to a top of 828c with a large number averaging 744c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 611c to 639c with sales to 680c and some returning to the paddock making to 724c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 630c with a good sample averaging 564c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers made to 728c with a good sample averaging 636c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 557c to 606c with sales to 640c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 542c to average 497c/kg.

A fair sample of bullocks made to 453c to average 443c with some over 750kg reaching 443c/kg.

Medium weight plain condition cows returning to the paddock made to 388c to average 368c/kg.

A large sample of good heavy weight cows to export processors averaged 399c and sold to 410c/kg.

Heavy weight bulls made to 373c/kg.

Cows and calves sold open auction made to $3,650/unit and PTIC cows made to $2,675/head.

Calves, also sold open auction, reached $1,575/head.

Some good falls of rain Sunday night 40m to 137m which the reduced yarding. Good buyer attendance right through the sale covering all categories. Quality of yarding was not as good as previous weeks. Cows eased by 15c to 20c but store cows were 15c dearer. Sale of the day AR & KD Mills Boggabilla sold 18 Angus Steers 810.2c, 263.2kg, $2,132c.
