Dalby sale 12 Feb 2025: Numbers down, with prices firm

Yarding 4237 Change -766

The number of cattle penned at Dalby reduced by 766 head to 4,237. Export buyer attendance was good along with the regular feed and trade plus restocker buyers and all were active in a firm to dearer market.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock sold to strong competition with a lift in quality improving top money however average prices remained firm. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed averaged 10c/kg dearer. The better end of the light weight yearling heifers improved in price and heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 6c/kg dearer. Bullocks experience very little change in price. Cows were firm to just marginally better in places. 

Well bred light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to a top of 482c to average from 390c to 414c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market made to 410c to average from 385c to 388c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to the occasional 388c with most sales 309c to 323c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed made to 348c to average from 306c to 323c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 324c and made to 340c/kg.

Bullocks made to 352c to average 347c and grown heifers averaged 322c and made to 325c/kg. A handful of medium weight 2 score cows averaged 258c and made to 264c/kg. Heavy weight 3 score cows averaged 277c and good heavy weight cows averaged 296c and made to 310c/kg. Heavy weight bulls made to 308c/kg.
