BUYER attendance was good with a full panel of exporters operating.

The usual feed and trade buyers were also in attendance, and interstate restockers were also very active in the young cattle section. Overall quality was generally good with a lift in the standard of the good heavy cows.

Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged a few cents dearer. Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to feed improved in price by 3c to 7c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed followed a similar trend. Most classes of cows lifted in price by 5c to 8c and up to 14c/kg in places, with some of the improvement in price due to the better quality penned.

Steer calves returning to the paddock made to 480.2c to average 463c/kg. Light weight yearling steers were well supplied and sold to restockers at an average of 432c with sales to 464.2c/kg. Yearling steers to feed under 330kg made to 436c to average 410c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged 394c and made to 420c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 398c to average 392c, and a few to the local trade market made to 398c/kg.

Light weight yearling heifers to restockers or background made to 438c with a good sample averaging 394c/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed averaged 366c and made to 398c/kg. Heavy weight yearling heifers to feed made to 370c to average 357c/kg. A small selection of heavy grown steers to export processors averaged 339c and made to 350c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows averaged 246c, and made to 259c/kg. A large selection of good heavy cows averaged 291c, with a few pen lots reaching 305c/kg.

Heavy bulls made to 333c/kg.
