Yarding 3363 Change -1839
Another rain event across a large portion of the state reduced the number of cattle at Dalby down by 1,839 head to 3,363. Buyer attendance was good and included interstate operators plus some supermarket support. The regular feed and trade buyers and restockers were also in attendance and operating.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock averaged 28c/kg better. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market also improved in price pushed on in places by restockers. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed experienced a quality price reduction. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock averaged 5c/kg less. Yearling heifers to feed improved in price with the heavy weights noticeably dearer to average 35c/kg better. Bullocks sold to a market 13c/kg dearer. Medium weight plain condition cows returning to the paddock improved in price, while good heavy weight cows to export processors sold to within 1c to 2c/kg of the previous week.
Light weight yearling steers returning to the paddock made to an isolated 804c with a very large number averaging 672c/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed averaged from 563c to 566c with sales to 614c, with some to restockers reaching 620c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 548c to average 485c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock made to the occasional 622c with the largest numbers at 530c/kg. Yearling heifers to feed averaged from 494c to 525c, and heavy weights made to 532c to average 483c/kg.
Bullocks averaged 426c and sold to 447c/kg. Medium weight plain condition cows returning to the paddock averaged 363c and some heavy weights to 386c/kg. Good heavy weight cows to export processors made to 394c with a large sample averaging 385c/kg. Heavy weight bulls improved in price and made to the occasional 420c/kg to return $4,074/head.

Solid week in Dalby, numbers were reduced to 3363 head. The usual buyers were present and active with the exception of one southern processor. Heavy bulls and feeder cattle improved in price while cow prices eased slightly, however, the market remained fairly firm on previous weeks overall. Lightweight yearling steers topped over 804c/kg this week.
