Beef Central 08/12/2022

Yarding 2587 Change –2410

The trend of smaller numbers coming onto the market continued at Dalby with agents penning close to half of the previous weeks level at 2,587 head. A fair panel of buyers was present and most were active in the market with restockers the major buyers across a number of classes. Light weight yearling steers and heifers returning to the paddock averaged 10c to 20c/kg better. Medium weight yearling steers and heifers experienced only quality related price changes however heavy weight yearling heifers averaged 15c/kg less. Heavy grown steers and bullocks to export processors experienced very little change in price. Heavy weight cows sold to a cheaper market to average 14c/kg less. Light weight yearling steers to restockers made to a top of 650c to average 554c/kg. Yearling steers to feed for the domestic market averaged from 476c to 517c, and a good sample of medium weights returned to the paddock at an average of 497c with sales to 548c/kg. Heavy weight yearling steers to feed made to 480c to average 442c/kg. Light weight yearling heifers to restockers made to 570c to average 504c/kg. Medium and heavy weight yearling heifers returning to the paddock for future breeders made to 500c to average 477c/kg. Bullocks to export processors made to 354c to average 348c/kg. Good heavy weight cows made to 310c to average 299c/kg. Buyers displayed very little interest on the heavy weight bulls with sales to 256c/kg.
