Grant Daniel Long report:
Numbers dropped for the last sale of the year. A full panel of buyers were in attendance; however, a few export processors were not operating. Overall, the market held up quite well, prices did soften in heavy cattle going to processors by 10 to 20c/kg. Feeders and light weight yearling cattle were back a bit on the average, this was due in part to the quality yarded, however, better lines of softer cattle showing a bit of frame sold on par with last week with lightweight steers still having sales over $4 and plenty of heifers over $3. Feeder heifers sold quite well, with a good line of Charolais and Angus heifers up to 372kg making 316c/kg. Cows and calves made to $1200 for store condition cows with good calves on them.
First sale back will be January 10th 2024. GDL will sell 7th.
