Grant Daniel Long report

Numbers were down this week in Dalby following some beautiful rain in the district along with the lower prices seen in the market last week. There were 2266 head yarded with GDL bringing in 795 of those. The usual panel of buyers were present and active this week. Overall, the market saw a similar trend with a few categories of cattle continuing to soften. Prime heavy cows saw a decrease of 10 to 20c/kg, however, store cows saw a boost of up to 30c/kg on average. Bulls, bullocks, and heifers going to processors held firm on last weeks prices. Better lines of heifers sold firm on last week’s rates throughout the sale, second grade heifers saw a reduction in prices. Lightweight yearling steers experienced very little change, feeder steers, however, were slightly cheaper as well.
